Mrs. Richards immediately went upstairs and took off her costume. She felt sorry for the poor man from the Electricity Board but at the same time , she was amused.
Suddenly, there was a lnock at the front door and Mrs. Richards went to open it. The electricity man had returned , accompanied by a pliceman, so she invited them in. The man told Mts. Richards that he came to read the meter and that he saw a ghost right now. Though Mrs. Richards explained that the ghost was herself he refused to believe her. She told him to open the storeroomdoor but he was afraid of seeing the ghost again so she opened it herself. While the electricity man and the policeman was waiting, Mrs. Richards fetched the costume. She showed it to them and they finally believed her.

作文：Two young boys who had never smoked before wanted to try. One evening,after they had their supper, father went into the living-room to watch TV, leaving a packet of cigarettes on the table. The boys took two cigarettes from the packet and went out of the house secretly.They hid in the garage ,hoping to enjoy their smoking there.However,when they lit the cigarettes and began to smoke,they could not help coughing,because the smoke was too strong for them.
Their father somehow saw the smoke coming from the garage,and rushed down quickly.But when he saw the boys there,he smiled.Instead of criticizing them,he offered them cigars and asked them to have a taste. The boys accepted them. But the cigars were even stronger than the cigarettes. When the smoked, the both felt very sick and coughed badly. This was a punishment for them.

A pilot noticed a balloon which seemed to be making for a Royal Air Force Station nearby.He informed the station at once,but no one there was able to explain the mystery.The officer in the control tower was very angry when he heard the news,because balloons can be a great danger to aircraft.He said that someone might be spying on the station and the pilot was ordered to keep track of the strange object.The pilot managed to circle the balloon for some time.He could make out three men in a basket under it and one of them was holding a pair of binoculars.When the balloon was over the station,the pilot saw one of the men taking photographs.Soon afterwards,the balloon began to descend and it landed near an airfield.The police were called in,but they could not arrest anyone,for the basket contained two Members of Parliament and the Commanding Officer of the station!As the Commanding Officer explained later,one half of the station did not know what the other half was doing!
